I was born in 1955 and my first easel, which I still use, is dated 1964. I suppose that means I have been quite serious about painting since then. I am fortunate enough to live and work on the beautiful island of Corfu, a truly inspirational place with wonderful light and colour as well as terrific subject matter.
I believe that observation and drawing are the bedrock for any artist, in that we need an understanding of form, structure, texture, tone, colour and above all, beauty.
Hence on this site you will see examples of classical drawing, the starting point, following a natural path through to quite abstract images, with others in between.
I do not feel any need for restriction or adherence to a particular style and indeed would suggest that to express all ones emotions, observations, reactions and passion requires a very open approach to all aspects of creating an image for others to read.
I hope you experience some pleasure from what is on show here, and that perhaps it may inspire you to pick up a pencil or brush to create your own work. Otherwise you may care take the short cut and purchase one of mine!
